Tāupo Taniwha Underwater Hockey Team unbeaten at the North Island UWH Tournament!

Well done to the Tāupo Taniwha Underwater Hockey Team!

Our novice composite team with both Taupo-Nui-a-tia College and Tauhara College players competed in the North Island Underwater Hockey Tournament in Rotorua over the long weekend. They were unbeaten in all games and came home with gold medals - even winning against a 'C' grade team on the final day! Go Tāupo Taniwha!

Tāupo Taniwha is pumped for the next tournament and as a result of their efforts will be bumped into 'C' grade. The Tāupo adults team also came home with great results. Silver medals and lots of smiles!

Improving immensely since the last tournament, everyone is super committed and excited about growing this unique sport.

Huge shout out to the awesome coaches, and to the junior and adult teams who are trying so hard to get more visibility and grow this sport in Tāupo.

If you are interested to check out what underwater hockey is all about head along on Thursday evening from 6pm at the AC Baths 2m training pool. You can also check out the Tāupo Underwater Hockey Club facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/taupo.uwh) for some cool footage.
