NZ Cycling North Island XCO Championship Results

Nui riders achieve fabulous results to start the year

Riders from Nui have had a great start to the season with two National trophies and some great placings over Auckland Anniversary weekend. These students were competing in the NZ Cycling North Island XCO (cross country) Championship held at Arapuke, Palmerston North.

It was a challenging day, and hard-earned National Titles went to Mia Cameron, who placed 1st in U19 Female, and Coen Nicol who placed 1st in U 17 Male.

Victoria Barrett earned a great 3rd in U 15 Female, and strong rides saw James Officer place 4th in U 19 Male and Amber Nicol 4th in U 15 Female.

This is probably the hardest XCO course raced in the country at the moment so great results by everyone.

We would also like to acknowledge former student, Corban Nicol, who placed 5th in a combined Elite/U 23 grade. To give some perspective of how hard they ride,  Corban kept an average heart rate of 190 bpm for 1 hour 12 min riding (enough to put most of us in the ground!).

Brilliant work everyone!
