Changes to NCEA 2021

As we prepare to return to school it is important to highlight relevant changes to NCEA 2021. The exam period now begins Monday 22nd November and concludes Tuesday 14th December. Please find the timetable attached to this post. Adjustment to the due dates for some external assessed portfolio work have also been made and this will be shared with students by classroom teachers.

Evidence for derived or unexpected event grades is now being collected in class lessons by teachers. Traditionally, some students have been quite complacent around these results as they are confident they will not be sick during the examinations. NZQA's current position is at Alert Level 3 or 4 external examinations will not go ahead and the evidence collected by teachers will be used to award external grades.

Currently, our students do not receive any learning recognition credits due to lockdown. To receive these credits, we needed to be at alert level 3 or 4 for 20 school days. We did not reach this threshold.

For students intending to leave school at the end of 2021, Taupō-nui-a-Tia will be looking to support your goals and pathways beyond college by individualising your timetables.
