Service Prep course gets students ready for future employment

Service Prep is a course designed especially for those students hoping to join any one of the services - the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Police Force. This course has hugely benefited me; I plan to join the police after completing Year 13 and graduating from Taupo-nui-a-Tia College. The course, which is taught by Mr. Lather, offers a wide range of Unit Standards. This means it's a pass or fail course. These standards are designed to prepare students for life in any of the forces, along with organised trips down to the police station on many different occasions. It was refreshing to hear actual police officers give us information about the job without any sugar coating. They did share a few gnarly stories but luckily this did not put us off; in fact, this only made the job sound much more interesting. Along with these visits and drop-ins from the police, we have done lots of RFL tests- Required Fitness Level- and had a couple sessions down at the new gym by Countdown. This course is ideal if you are interested in a career in the forces. It prepares you physically and mentally, and encourages self-discipline and high standards. I loved this course and would highly recommend it to anyone contemplating a future in the forces.
