Adventure Racing--The Great Forest Rogaine!

On Saturday the 25th of July, our school Adventure Racing team competed in the annual 6 hour Great Forest Rogaine, held at Whakawerawera Forest. We had one team, made up of Josh Wigram, Elliott Smith, Matthew Stokes and Mia Cameron compete in the Mountain Biking category, and another team made up of Lilja Tinworth, Samuel Mckay, Noah Kemp and Naomi Riedel  enter the foot category. Over the day we covered approximately 30-38km of riding and walking tracks, as well as some illegal MTB tracks. The weather was perfect for the race, with clear skies and no wind. It was a tough competition, with over 500 participants. Although neither of our teams placed, we all had an amazing day and are very happy with how we did. 

The next event for the Junior Squad is the Get2Go Regional Competition held in Cambridge. We have had a number of new Year 9 and 10 students join the squad for this race and greatly appreciate their support. The Senior squad members are preparing for the Macpac Hillary Challenge Qualifier at the end of August.
