Congratulations to Year 12 student Niah Findley, who was awarded a full scholarship to attend the BLAKE Inspire programme during the July school holidays.
BLAKE Inspire is a week-long environmental leadership programme for passionate young people from across Aotearoa. The programme combines adventure and outdoor experiences with environmental and marine science, giving students opportunities to work alongside scientists, researchers and environmental experts while exploring some of the challenges facing our environment.
During the week, Niah stayed at St Peter’s School in Cambridge and travelled throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Hexperiences included kayaking in Raglan, visiting Te Puia in Rotorua and exploring Maungatautari, alongside a range of hands-on science activities.
A particular focus of the programme was waterways and environmental sustainability, with students working with researchers and scientists to better understand environmental issues and consider how young people can contribute to positive change in their schools and communities.
