Last year, Taupo Nui a Tia College and Tauhara College went head-to-head in a Sims Racing Tournament. This happened on Monday, the 15th of September, 2025. Not only was this an amazing event and opportunity for the two colleges, but it also marked a historical moment for the Taupo region, as The Cave Taupo hosted the event for the first time ever. This inter-school event consisted of two main races: Supercars around the legendary track of Bathurst and F1 racing around Le Mans. Twenty students, two teams, one victor.
The competition demanded speed, agility, teamwork, and strategy. Teams had to plan pit stops, tire changes, and fuel consumption - all while keeping track of the opposing team.
A point system dependent on race placings determined the winner.

Want to sponsor a team?
As part of the class's task to organize this event, a group of students in the Sponsorship team has been looking for any businesses willing to sponsor a Sims Racing Team for either Tauhara College or Taupo Nui a Tia College. So far, two Taupō have generously agreed to sponsor prizes for the winners: Burgerfuel and Kebabiya.
By sponsoring a team, each business will receive a sponsor package.
The sponsorship package includes:
· Team entry for two students.
· One practice session prior to race event day.
· Custom business-sponsored race car livery for race day, created by a professional livery designer The Cave works with.
· Social media promotion featuring both the drivers and the sponsoring business.
· Exclusive discount code available to both drivers and sponsors leading up to the event for both VR and sim sessions.
Cost: $350 per team.
