The NZ Secondary School Cross Country Championships were held in Wellington on Saturday 20 June. We had two entrants, Rory Paterson and Yahav Wiezel.
It was a very cold wet, windy day and therefore the cross country course was very muddy full of changes in surface and water crossings. Quite the experience for both Rory and Yahav who were competing in very large competitive fields.
Rory ran well after a slow start to come 30th in a field of 150 in the junior race.
Yahav competed strongly in the senior boys race with 220 competitors, unfortunately picking up an injury which slowed him down towards the end.
Well done boys, Cross Country is one of the most competitive events in NZ School Sport and in horrific conditions, these are brave results.
