Shakespeare Nationals

Shakespeare Nationals

Taupo-nui-a-Tia College drama ākonga had a successful weekend in Wellington at King’s Birthday weekend, representing the South Waikato region at the SGCNZ VUW National Shakespeare Festival.

They held their own in performance against some very well-resourced schools and did our college proud in both performances of scenes from Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

On top of that we won one of the much coveted, but hard to receive prizes at the end of the weekend:

Mikaire Heemi took out the supporting actor award for “the bit part player who best supports other players” in his role as the Waiter in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

Ngā Mihi to parents and caregivers for all your help, immense gratitude to the amazing Taupō businesses who sponsored us, and huge thanks to the kaiako of our college for supporting our ākonga with patience as they took a break from classes to represent the region.
