Volleyball Boys North Island tournament
The junior boys volleyball team had a fantastic week away as a team at North Islands.
The goal was to provide the boys with quality volleyball games and a longer tournament experience. Ultimately growing competitive volleyball capability is about building skills - physical and mental. You need 'touches of the ball' under pressure! They got this and there were experiences the boys will stand on as their platform for volleyball into the years to come. The boys played 8 games between Tuesday morning and Friday lunchtime, and they finished pretty spent as a team!
They finished 12th in the 3rd division. The first game on Tuesday was a 2:0 win against the same team they played last on Friday. With Friday's game a 2:1 loss, it is a good illustration of the competitive nature of the tournament and the challenge of growing resilience in this environment. Experiencing the highs and lows of tournament volleyball is something that translates well into other aspects of life. It was great to see them grow personally and as a team through the week. The boys are a great team, played well together and showed their Cornerstone Values
Thanks so much to Bruce for all his coaching hours and to Aimee and Tania and everyone else that helped over the season.
