Last Tuesday, 16 of our junior students were competing in the Get2Go Qualifier to win a ticket to the finals at Great Barrier Island.
34 teams from the Waikato regions were competing in three different disciplines: mountain biking/problem solving, paddleboarding/kayaking, and Rogaine.
Our teams have been training together over the past month, and the enthusiasm, team support, and dedication of both groups were something Nui can be proud of!
What a great group of students! Team 1 with Louie Cameron, Riley Staddon, Lochie McGeough, Morgan Skerratt, Dani Raikes, Zara Gillies, Emma Putt, and Merryn Gibson placed second with a super small difference of 8 points. This team also excelled in winning the mountain biking and placing second in both the water activity and the Rogaine.
Team 2 with Willow Allum, Jacob Campin, Ciara Charman, Owen Heijdenrijk, Micah Hilton, Lillie Ishikawa, James McIntyre, and Antonia Shepherd did a fantastic job and ended up 12th.
Great effort for both teams. Thanks to Katey Gibson for helping on the day and to Stephen Bradley and Janet Prier for all your help in the preparation.
