Girls Team Report 2009

Girls’ cricket for 2009 involved the team playing in a Bay of Plenty competition. We travelled away to Te Puke, Tauranga and Tokoroa for games and we had home games against Western Heights and Whakatane on our brand new turf here at school. Thanks to Mr. Moyle, our friendly caretakers and all others involved in organizing the new playing surface for us.

Well our games didn’t go exactly how we planned and not too many results went our way but we had a lot of fun. Awesome bowling came from Sarah Congdon and solid batting from Janelle Russell. Phoebe Currie started to show some promise as an all rounder proving to be useful with the bat and ball. The Year 11 girls in the team showed good improvement since last year and also Tess Logie who was new to the team showed some good skills.

This year we were lucky enough to get our own uniforms thanks to some fundraising from the team and contributions from the school.  We may not have been the best performing team in the competition but we were the best dressed.

Thanks to all the girls for putting in a lot of effort during the season and big thanks to Mr Fowler for being an awesome coach.

Janelle Russell.
